Intersect elections 2024: your opportunity to shape the future of Cardano
Announcing that applications for Intersect Elections 2024 are now officially open! This is a landmark moment for Intersect and the broader Cardano community as we take another step forward in solidifying our member-driven governance.
Why Intersect?
Intersect is a member-based organization (MBO) dedicated to empowering the community to have direct influence over the direction of Cardano’s blockchain. It’s this member-centric structure that makes Intersect unique. Whether you're an individual contributor or an organization, anyone can become part of Intersect and play a vital role in steering the future of Cardano.
The board currently consists of five seats, two filled by prominent Cardano institutions, IOG and EMURGO, and another held by Wyoming State University, representing the educational sector. The remaining two seats are reserved for Intersect members, and this year’s election offers you the chance to be at the heart of decision-making.
The role of committees
Committees are at the core of Intersect’s structure, which consists of people from across the Cardano ecosystem. These committees act as decision-making and advisory bodies, providing direction and recommendations that reflect the community's will. Since Intersect’s formation in January 2024, the committees have been filled with volunteers and stakeholders who have helped stabilize and shape our operations.
It’s time to take the next step by transitioning from volunteer-based positions to elected roles. This election gives members the chance to apply for committee seats, becoming official representatives of the broader Cardano community. The elected committees will be pivotal in driving Cardano’s future growth, innovation, and governance.
Moving to elected positions: a milestone in decentralization
As we reach this important phase, we are excited to transition to a fully elected structure for our committees. Elections will occur in September and October 2024, and members are invited to apply for positions in these core committees. In addition to committee elections, two new non-executive directors will be elected to join the Intersect governing board. These individuals will play a critical role in providing legal and operational guidance to the organization.
