12 min

Welcome to the twenty-sixth edition of the Intersect Development Report! This week, we will report on our membership milestone, Events update, Chang's readiness, the Cardano constitution, a report from the Intersect committees, community hubs, DReps, governance & community tooling, and more!

Membership update

We’re thrilled to share that since launching our paid membership options on May 30, 2024, we’ve welcomed over 500 new members! If you’re considering upgrading from an associate to a full Member, you can explore the benefits here, and join us here.

We’re excited to see even more of you joining us in the weeks, months, and years ahead. Stay tuned for the upcoming introduction of our new enterprise membership levels!

We’re thrilled to return to Las Vegas and proud to sponsor RareEvo from August 15 to 17 this year. This year, we’ll share the Cardano spot with the Cardano Foundation and EMURGO.

Don’t miss our panel discussion on Friday at noon, where Jenny Brito, Adam Rusch, and Lloyd Duhon will explore Intersect’s pivotal role in Cardano.

Additionally, catch our demo and Q&A session titled "Cardano's Governance and Its Tools to Support Participation" on Friday from 11:10 AM to 12:10 PM in the Salerno Room. Lorenzo Bruno and Ryan Williams will present the latest advancements and tools to enhance governance participation.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hard fork readiness

Teams across Intersect, DApp developers, and exchanges coordinate closely to ensure the Chang hard fork is timely and seamless. This week, we launched the hard fork readiness report, released thrice weekly via the Intersect X profile. Make sure you follow us to stay up to date.

This week’s highlight is low-level tooling. Key components are now 9.X ready:

For more information, check our updates on X and Discord, or visit the Intersect knowledge base for frequent updates.

Constitutional workshops underway

We’re thrilled to see our constitutional workshops underway; many more are scheduled throughout the summer. Currently, we have 55 workshops planned across 44 countries.

Next week, join us for seminars in Japan, South Africa, and Nigeria. Check the Luma calendar to find and sign up for a nearby workshop. Participating will allow you to influence the final constitution and qualify to attend the Buenos Aires convention in December.

We’re aiming for 50+ workshops in 50 countries. Applications to host are still open for a limited time, so if you’re passionate about Cardano’s governance and want to lead a workshop in an unrepresented country, visit our latest blog and apply today!

Committees
This fortnight's
committee report will be available for the community to read on July 9th, providing updates on all committee activities and their working groups.

Committee elections are approaching, with community events scheduled to be detailed in the Discord events section by August 9th. This will include key dates, application details, and voting information. For questions about the elections, visit your dedicated Discord channel. We’ll also set up a dedicated space in your knowledge base early next week.

DReps - delegated representatives

This weekend, on August 10th, Hosky will conduct a DRep workshop in the Fort Worth Metroplex, Dallas, USA. The event offers participants insights into the roles and responsibilities of a DRep and the overall governance framework of the Cardano blockchain. Link to register. You can also view a complete list of upcoming workshops here.

Last week, we announced that Intersect is conducting a five-minute multiple-choice survey to understand the community's thoughts, explore DReps' backgrounds and motivations, identify whom they represent, and uncover any barriers to becoming a DRep

Take the DRep Survey

We want to highlight the importance of members' feedback on this vital subject; we'll share the results in a future update, so watch this space!

Community hubs

Last week, our Japan community hub held an X Space with 36 attendees. The recording is available here.

Our WADA (Africa) community hub held its first West Africa town hall last week on 3rd August, with 35 attendees. You can watch the recording here.

This week, we have the following activities taking place within our Community Hubs:

Japan hub

  • The LINE LIVE talk will be held on 9 August. To join, click here (it is inaccessible to countries other than Japan).
  • Constitutional workshop on Saturday 10th of August (Osaka)
  • Constitutional workshop on Saturday, 31st of August (Tokyo).

This year marks the final chapter of Cardano's roadmap. The community will receive a treasury equivalent to 1.5 billion ADA, the Cardano membership system will be launched, and the establishment of Cardano's constitution will begin.

Open source

The open source committee (OSC) has adopted a new voting policy that aligns with the draft policy of the AMM/Cardano summit. This policy will be tested as the OSC fills vacant seats during the bootstrap and initialization phases.

The open-source office (OSO) staff will attend events like  RareEvo in Las Vegas and the Open Source Summit Europe in Vienna in August and September. We look forward to meeting you there!

ICYMI: We’ve released two new interviews as part of our project support services: Cardano node 9.1.0 with Samuel Leathers and Modus Create/Tweag OSO support. Check them out in the Project Spotlight playlist.

Lastly, our footprint analysis of the Cardano ecosystem, created with Bitergia analytics, is nearing completion. This report will offer an in-depth look at Intersect’s role in promoting decentralized development on Cardano.

Community grants

As part of the inclusion and accessibility category (Phase 2), our global community members have translated the interim constitution:

Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Swahili translations are also coming!

The constitutional committee portal, led by Bloxico, has achieved its fourth milestone. This milestone includes the development of a private dashboard and a new reasoning feature for the voting process. The ‘My Actions’ dashboard now has two tabs: ‘Governance Action’ and ‘My Votes.’ Members can select a governance action to vote on and add their reasoning. A hash and link are then generated for on-chain voting. For more details, please contact the Bloxico team.

The global constitutional workshops are also underway. Please check the luma calendar for the latest hosts, venues, and date updates.

Thiago Nunes led a local community meet-up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 24th to 26th during the Blockchain Rio 2024 event. This event marked a significant milestone for the blockchain industry in Brazil. Thiago played a key role in recruiting new members and showcasing the benefits of joining Intersect. He also facilitated connections between attending companies and Intersect, engaging in discussions about potential collaborations. For more details, read here.

Mlabs
has successfully updated Plutarch to leverage the features of the Conway ledger era. For a more detailed overview of the project deliverables, please refer to their Close Out Report.

Governance tooling

We are happy to announce that the Sancho GovTool is online again. You can continue testing full governance on sanchogov.tools. This dashboard also keeps you up to date with the levels of SanchoNet GovTool participation.

Last week, we tested GovTool on the preview network, which supports bootstrapping phase features. It's great to see Lace Wallet working with it. This is especially important now that the preview network has upgraded to the Conway ledger era.

We also expect the CC portal on SanchoNet to be available in the next few days. This is yet another big step towards full governance in Cardano.

And we have the updated SanchoNet stats, which are:

Delivery assurance monthly milestones
