Summary of 2025 Annual Members Meeting

7 min

The annual member meeting is a key event for an MBO. It’s the time of the year when we get to reflect on what was done and look ahead to what’s coming. This year’s meeting was particularly significant for Intersect. This year’s meeting was particularly significant for Intersect. For the first time, the entire AMM was hosted as a fully virtual, full-day experience, a bold step meant to bring together a globally distributed membership in a new and more accessible way. And while this was a pilot of this new tool, with the expected bugs and learnings, it achieved something important: it created a shared space for members across time zones to connect, participate, and help shape the future of Intersect.

A global start: connecting across regions

The work for the AMM began with collecting members’ input through the annual member survey, which remained open for 8 weeks and closed a week before the event. The feedback from the 70 people who spent over 25 minutes each sharing their input was incorporated into the proposed 2026 goals and discussed during the AMM.

Also, in the days leading up to the virtual global event, Intersect members hosted regional meetups in Tokyo, London, Buenos Aires, Sri Lanka, and Nairobi. These in-person gatherings helped prepare the regional communities for the AMM, fostering local conversations and setting the tone for a collaborative global experience.

Key stats

This year's fully global annual member meeting lasted 23 hours, starting at midnight UTC on Saturday, November 29, and spanning 12 international regions.

The event was livestreamed for its full 23 hours on the Intersect YouTube account, with over 200 live views on the day.

The AMM had six dedicated breakout rooms, where participants could connect and discuss the year that had passed and the year to come.

Of the over 150 people who registered for the events, over 100 joined throughout the day.

A day filled with conversations and insights

Throughout the event, the Virtual Hub served as the central meeting point. Members moved freely between rooms dedicated to specific topics, joined committee sessions, and participated in discussions about Intersect’s direction for the coming year. The presentation of the 2025 overview and the updates on delivery assurance provided members with a clear understanding of the work ahead and the milestones already achieved.

Building together: participation and feedback

A key objective of this year’s AMM was to create space for members to contribute their insights meaningfully. Dedicated rooms were set up for reviewing the 2025 Report and the 2026 Proposal, with Miro boards open throughout the day for comments, questions, and suggestions. The feedback collected will play a crucial role in shaping the final versions of both documents.

This year’s AMM also featured a fun community challenge inside Intersect’s Virtual Hub: AMM25 Competition. Members were invited to complete a playful three-part challenge: from snapping photos of their avatars around the space to capturing a selfie beside the two giant Clay heads, and even taking a screenshot mid-fall as they dropped out of the Hub.

Fall off

The challenge brought a lot of creativity, and we are excited to share that we had seven winners who completed all steps and will be receiving an exclusive Intersect T-shirt

A foundation for the future

This year’s pilot, hosting our second annual member meeting in an entirely virtual environment and embracing our global membership, came with challenges and many lessons that will help us shape this event going forward. Even though improvements are needed, the experience showed that there is real value in allowing people to connect in virtual space, where members can gather with ease, regardless of where they are in the world. This pilot is not only a foundation for next year’s AMM but also a foundation for how we will regularly connect in Intersect. The Intersect Virtual Hub will remain open and accessible to members via the Intersect members' area.

The core of the annual member meeting is reflecting on the year that passed and gaining feedback on where we need to go next. The 2025 Report and 2026 Proposal will be updated to reflect the input gathered during the AMM, ensuring that the members’ voices inform the next steps.

The Virtual Hub, developed in collaboration with Clay Nation, will now move into its next phase of enhancement. It aims to evolve beyond a single-event space into a permanent area where members can gather more casually, attend streamed Town Halls and Town Square sessions, or even meet committee members for open conversations.

Closing thoughts

AMM 2025 was an ambitious experiment, one that demanded flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to try something new. And despite the long hours, the technical hiccups, and the marathon-like pace, it succeeded in bringing our global membership together in a meaningful way.

The event demonstrated what is possible when a community chooses to connect not only through technology but through curiosity, collaboration, and shared purpose. As we look toward AMM 2026 and the next stage of growth for Intersect, the foundation built this year gives us plenty to build on and even more to look forward to.

Here’s to everyone who participated, contributed, shared feedback, or showed up to be part of the experience. AMM 2025 may have ended, but the connections and momentum it created are just getting started.
